Persons who can claim residence outside the European Union, who are 18 years of age or older, and have had a valid drivers license for at least one year qualify for a tax-free short-term auto lease. No maximum age limit applies. Tourists qualify for up to 170 days. Students and educators typically qualify for up to 355 days, as do certain employees undertaking a limited engagement in Europe.

 

Q: Do I need an international driver's license?

Many countries require of you, the foreign driver, no license apart from your domestic drivers license. However, Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Italy, Portugal, and Spain do, by law at least, require non-Europeans to carry an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with their domestic license. Bulgaria and the Czech Republic require all foreign drivers to carry an IDP.For more information, check with your local auto club (AAA, CAA…).

 

Q: Who can drive the car?

The driver must be at least 18 years old and hold a current driver's license valid for all the countries in which he/she intends to drive. Apart from the holder of the vehicle registration document [i.e. you the person in whose name the vehicle is registered], only the spouse, the co-habitee (with documentary proof of living together, or an affidavit , and direct ascendants and descendants if they satisfy the necessary conditions to benefit from the same TT regime may drive the vehicle.

Apart from the person in whose name the registration document is issued, only the spouse, the co-habitee, the direct ascendants and descendants covered by the same temporary transit authorization are allowed to pick up the vehicle. They must be able to provide an authorization signed by the main beneficiary.

 

Q: What do they mean by fully comprehensive insurance?

The insurance, warranty and assistance are all included in the price of a lease.  The insurance — consisting of civil liability and zero-deductible collision, theft, vandalism, fire, and act-of-God coverage — and the factory warranty are included [more info]. The insurance is effective no matter who is driving, provided the vehicle is being driven within the geographic domain of the insurance.  Likewise 24/7 multi-lingual roadside assistance is included [more info].

Q: Are my personal belongings insured?

Yes your personal belongings are insured up to 840 Euro in case of accident, burglary or fire with presentation of the receipts. Excluding fur, electronics, jewelry and monetary goods.

 

Q: Can I add accessories such as child seat or roof rack?
A:

You can choose to purchase outright the following accessories: child seat(s) (required for children under 10 years of age). Unfortunately we do not offer roof rack but we have 3 models already equipped with roof bars: Clio Estate Station Wagon, Megane Estate Station Wagon and Laguna Estate Station Wagon. Such items will cost extra and you will own them outright. The different options will appear at the time your reservation request

 

Q: Fuel or Diesel?

In most European countries the price of diesel is about 20 percent less than that of gasoline. In the UK and Spain, however, diesel costs virtually the same as gasoline; in Ireland it costs about 15 percent less. In Switzerland and Slovenia, diesel is more expensive than gasoline....Keep in mind that diesel engines are about 30 percent more efficient than gasoline engines. Therefore in most countries you end up saving about 40 percent on your fuel costs if you drive a diesel rather than a gasoline-powered vehicle.

 

Q: Can I buy the vehicle?

If you'd like, you can purchase your vehicle at the end of your lease. All you have to do is contact Paris at the relevant phone number listed in the Traveling Instructions booklet (provided in the vehicle) at least 8 days prior to the termination of your lease. The manufacturer will arrange for 2 weeks worth of temporary registration and insurance (appending to the end of your lease duration) while further assisting you in regard to financing.
You may also buy a vehicle outright in the first place.  That vehicle may happen to come with certain bells and whistles which are not guaranteed features of the model in terms of the short-term leasing contract. 

 

Q: When should I make my reservation?

We would suggest you place your order at least thirty days before the planned pick-up date. However, it may be possible to arrange more urgent pick ups ($20 rush charge will apply).

 

Q: I need a car right away. Can you help?

Online Eurodrive reservations require three weeks preparation. But call one of our travel consultants at (888) 532-1221 between 9:00AM and 5:00PM Eastern. If we can't arrange a rush job, our association with a world renowned car rental company will allow us to arrange a conventional car rental for you.

 

Q: Payment procedure

A $300 deposit is required in order to place your reservation. The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to pick up date. If your pick up date is in less than 30 days, the full amount of your lease is required.

 

Q: Changes/refund

If you cancel more than thirty days prior to your pick-up date, Renault USA will refund your US $300 deposit. If you cancel within thirty days of your pick-up date, Renault USA will refund your entire payment minus the US $300 deposit.  You can make up to 2 changes without any charges, thereafter, there is a fee of $500 per change. You can also make changes regarding your drop off location or the length of your lease (additional day charge will be calculated on the basis of Renault Paris general contract extension price list) while abroad by contacting Renault headquarters in Paris DIRECTLY.
