Persons who can claim residence outside the European Union, who are 18 years of age or older, and have had a valid drivers license for at least one year qualify for the Renault Eurodrive tax-free short-term auto lease. No maximum age limit applies. Tourists qualify for up to 170 days. Students and educators typically qualify for up to 355 days, as do certain employees undertaking a limited engagement in Europe.

 

Q: Do I need an international driver's license?

Many countries require of you, the foreign driver, no license apart from your domestic drivers license. However, Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Italy, Portugal, and Spain do, by law at least, require non-Europeans to carry an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with their domestic license. Bulgaria and the Czech Republic require all foreign drivers to carry an IDP.For more information, check with your local auto club (AAA, CAA…).

 

Q: Who can drive the car?

The driver must be at least 18 years old and hold a current driver's license valid for all the countries in which he/she intends to drive. Apart from the holder of the vehicle registration document [i.e. you the person in whose name the vehicle is registered], only the spouse, the domestic partner (with documentary proof of living together, or an affidavit), and direct ascendants and descendants if they satisfy the necessary conditions to benefit from the same TT regime may drive the vehicle.

 

Q: Where can I pick up and return the car?

Apart from the person in whose name the registration document is issued, only the spouse, the co-habitee, the direct ascendants and descendants covered by the same temporary transit authorization are allowed to pick up the vehicle. They must be able to provide an authorization signed by the main beneficiary.

 

Q: What does fully comprehensive insurance mean?

The insurance, warranty and road assistance service are all included in the price of the lease. The insurance covers civil liability, collision with zero-deductible, theft, vandalism, fire and act-of-God. It is effective no matter who is driving, provided the vehicle is being driven within the geographic domain of the insurance. Likewise the included 24/7 multi-lingual roadside assistance is limited to this same geographical domain.

Although the car may be driven in other countries, the countries in which this insurance and Road Assistance program are effective consist of the following:

Q: Are my personal belongings insured?

Yes your personal belongings are insured up to 840 Euro in case of accident, burglary or fire with presentation of the receipts. Fur, electronics, jewelry and monetary goods are however excluded.

 

Q: Can I add accessories such as child seat or roof rack?
A:

You can choose to purchase from us, at the time of your reservation, child seat(s). Such seats are required by law for children less than 10 years of age. Click here to see our child seats options. You may also elect to buy such seats locally and install them in your car yourself.

We do not offer roof racks or ski racks, we have 3 car models already equipped with roof bars: Clio Estate Station Wagon, Megane Estate Station Wagon and Laguna Estate Station Wagon. Racks can be bought locally and in most cases easily installed using those bars.

 

Q: Fuel or Diesel?

In most European countries the price of diesel can be as much as 10 to 20 percent less than that of gasoline. Diesel engines are also about 20 percent more efficient than gasoline engines. Therefore in most countries you could end up saving up to 20 to 30 percent on your fuel cost if you drive a diesel rather than a gasoline-powered vehicle. Fuel prices (gasoline and diesel alike) vary from country to country and may also be affected by local distribution networks. If you are not already set on a gasoline or diesel option, we recommend you check pricing and distribution options in the countries you may consider visiting, before making your choice.

 

Q: Can I buy the vehicle?

You may purchase your vehicle at the end of your lease. All you have to do is contact Renault in Paris at the relevant phone number listed in the Traveling Instructions booklet (provided with the vehicle) at least 8 days prior to the termination of your lease. Renault will arrange for 2 weeks worth of temporary registration and insurance (appending to the end of your lease duration) while further assisting you in regard to financing.

We recommend however that, if you are planning such a purchase, you buy the vehicle outright. We will be more than happy to help you with this process which offers more flexibility than the leasing option in term of customization of the car. We will also be able to offer you a significant discount on the list price on that vehicle.

 

Q: When should I make my reservation?

As the number of cars offered in this Program is limited to a few thousands per year, we suggest you place your order as early as possible and at least thirty days before the planned pick-up date.

 

Q: I need a car right away. Can you help?
A:

Eurodrive reservations must be made at least three weeks before the planned vehicle pick up date . If you need a shorter turnaround time, call one of our travel consultants at (888) 532-1221 between 9:00AM and 5:30PM Eastern Time. We will always try to accommodate your needs. If we can't arrange for a delivery on your exact date, we may be able to assist you with a regular car rental for a few days before you can take possession of your Renault of offer you another long term rental option for your trip.

 

Q: Payment procedure

A $400 deposit is required in order to place your reservation. The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to pickup date. If your pickup date is in less than 30 days from your order date, the full amount of your lease is required when you order.

 

Q: Changes/Cancellations

Cancellations : If you cancel your order more than thirty days prior to your pickup date, Wheels in Europe LLC (WIE) will refund $350 of your deposit. If you cancel within thirty days of your pickup date, WIE will refund your entire payment minus the $400 deposit.
Changes requested more than 30 days prior to the delivery date of the vehicle : You can make up to 2 changes without any charges. Thereafter, there is a fee of $50 per change.
Changes requested 30 days or less prior to the scheduled or desired delivery date of the vehicle : any change requested during this period will be subject to a $300.00 fee. All changes must be requested in writing by mail, email or fax.
Changes after delivery of the vehicle : You can make changes regarding your drop off location or the length of your lease (additional day charge will be calculated on the basis of Renault Paris general contract extension price list) while abroad by contacting Renault headquarters in Paris DIRECTLY.
